1.1 Multi Agency Fora

There are a number of multi-agency groups active nationally and in Gwent which respond to domestic abuse and violence against women:

Multi Agency Risk Assessment Conference (MARAC)

Agencies share information about high risk cases of domestic abuse and develop an action plan. Evidence shows these multi-agency initiatives are very effective.

Daily Domestic Abuse Conference Call (DACC)

An information sharing process initiated by Gwent Police. The DACC helped raise awareness among social landlords in south east Wales of the numbers of domestic abuse incidents taking place in their properties.

Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH)

A recent innovation often involving representatives from a range of agencies which share information to promote early identification and prevention of significant harm. There are varying models of MASH.

Domestic Homicide Reviews (DHR)

Local community safety partnerships instigate domestic homicide reviews; certain agencies are required to be part of them. Ideally, local arrangements ensure that learning from these reviews is disseminated via local multi agency networks.

Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC)

SARCs are referral centres where victims of rape and serious sexual assault can receive medical care and counselling. Victims can also undergo a forensic examination and assist a police investigation. SARCs usually have an Independent Sexual Violence Advisor service, (ISVA). There is a SARC in every region in Wales; to contact your local SARC, ISVA service or to refer someone, contact the National Live Fear Free Helpline on 0808 80 10 800

Sex Workers Operational Team (SWOT)

Similar to MARACs with a focus on sex workers.
